A quality Japanese plane type Hira Kanna 平 鉋 – for general carpentry work. Kanna planes have a very simple design. The blade is made of quality Japanese laminated two-layer steel and needs to be fitted into the body of the plane with a hammer before first use, which also allows you to adjust the size of the shavings removed. If you want to thin the shaving, just hit the body of the plane. The thickness of the shaving and the smoothness of the surface are based on personal adjustment of the blade.
Kanna 鉋 – is the name for a Japanese plane. This type of plane differs from Western ones in several fundamental respects. The first thing you will notice is their elegant simplicity: most of these planes have block-shaped bodies made of Japanese oak. The blades are wedged in place by a chip breaker and instead of mechanical devices, the blade is adjusted by tapping with a mallet on the body or the blade itself. The blade is made of quality Japanese laminated two-layer steel. Western carpenters consider Japanese planes to be "reverse", because they are pulled rather than pushed. Experienced users say that this technique allows for much better control over the plane, but it takes a bit of practice to get used to this technique.
