Small oil sharpening stones SUN TIGER are designed for sharpening tools or for removing burrs on the edge or on a cut metal object. They come in a wide range of grits. To work with them, a special sharpening oil is needed, which ensures proper removal of the ground particles, better surface finish, and less wear on the stones. The flat sharpening stone is designed for chisels and carving knives with a straight edge.

To keep the oil stones in good condition, it is necessary to clean them from time to time. For this purpose, mineral oil or turpentine is best used. Leveling worn oil stones is done in the same way as with water stones – using a leveling stone or water abrasive paper. However, you should use one of the above-mentioned oils for leveling.

Which grit to choose?

For sharpening really dull or uneven blades, use stones with a low JIS number (Japanese classification for grit). The lower the number, the coarser the stone. Stones with a high JIS number are intended for final and fine sharpening or smoothing.
