Small oil sharpening stones SUN TIGER are designed for sharpening tools or for removing burrs on the edge or cut metal object. They come in a whole range of grits. For working with them, a special sharpening oil is required, which ensures the proper removal of ground particles, better surface finish, and less wear of the sharpening stones. The flat sharpener is designed for chisels and carving knives with a straight edge.

To keep the oil stones in good condition, they need to be cleaned from time to time. For this purpose, it is best to use mineral oil or turpentine. Leveling worn oil stones is done in the same way as with water stones – using a leveling stone or water sharpening paper. However, you should use one of the aforementioned oils for leveling.

Which grit to choose?

For sharpening really dull or uneven blades, use stones with a low JIS number (Japanese classification for grit). The lower the number, the coarser the stone. Stones with a high JIS number are intended for final and fine sharpening or smoothing.
