Small oil sharpening stones SK11 are designed for sharpening tools or for removing burrs on edges or cut metal objects. They come in various shapes and different grit sizes. A special sharpening oil is needed for their use, which ensures the proper removal of ground particles, a better surface finish, and less wear on the sharpening stones. This triangular sharpener is intended for chisels with a "V" profile, profile carving knives, and other tools with a V-shaped edge profile.

To keep the oil stones in good condition, they need to be cleaned from time to time. For this purpose, mineral oil or turpentine is best used. Leveling worn oil stones is done in the same way as with water stones – using a leveling stone or water sanding paper. However, one of the aforementioned oils should be used for leveling.

Which grit to choose?

For sharpening really blunt or uneven blades, use stones with a low JIS number (Japanese classification for grit size). The lower the number, the coarser the stone. Stones with a high JIS number are intended for final and fine sharpening or smoothing.
